Naples – The escape ended at Capodichino Airport. Salvatore Autiero, 43, a Neapolitan from the San Carlo all'Arena neighborhood, was arrested by Carabinieri of the Naples Investigative Unit immediately after a flight from Tirana landed.
The man had been missing for days and is believed to be one of the leaders of a gang specializing in residential burglaries that struck between Naples and Rome.
Autiero had been missing since last Tuesday, when the Carabinieri made 38 arrests as part of a major investigation that shed light on a vast criminal network active between 2023 and 2024. According to investigators, over a hundred hits were carried out, with seven criminal groups dismantled.
The documents in the precautionary order issued by the investigating judge of the Northern Naples Court reveal Autiero's leading role within a veritable criminal holding company, which also allegedly included Dario Marra, Aniello Di Napoli, Lucio Russo, Maurizio Minichini, Gennaro Guarracino, Maria Pia Iovine, and Luigi Cavuoto.
The 43-year-old is specifically charged with participation in a robbery carried out on February 14, 2024, in an apartment in Qualiano, from which the gang allegedly made a profit of over €21. Investigators have reconstructed other raids in the municipalities of Melito, Marano, Giugliano, and Casavatore. With Autiero's arrest, the final missing piece, the operation can be considered complete.
