Avellino – A nurse was attacked on New Year's Eve while on duty in the emergency room at the San Giuseppe Moscati Hospital in Avellino.
The management of the Irpinia hospital made the announcement, expressing "zero tolerance" and announcing an internal audit to analyze the incident.
This morning, General Manager Germano Perito personally visited the department for a detailed update. He expressed his solidarity with the worker involved and thanked the State Police and security guards for their "professionalism and support."
The company has already planned an internal investigation to identify improvement measures, simultaneously activating all administrative and legal procedures to protect its staff.
"The strategic management considers this a serious matter," an official statement reads, "and does not intend to underestimate it or leave it untouched. It will be vigorously pursued within the limits of current legislation."
The statement emphasizes its solidarity with all staff, especially emergency room workers, who are "exposed daily to unjustified pressure, violence, cowardice, and intimidation." This phenomenon, it is noted, is not unique to Irpinia but affects the entire national healthcare system.
In recent months, Aorn Moscati has already adopted concrete safety initiatives: reinstating the police force in the areas adjacent to the triage center and strengthening the security service, with a focus on communication and management of patients' families.

It's sad to hear of such violent incidents, especially in a place where people seek help. I hope the hospital takes adequate measures to protect staff and ensure everyone's safety. Violence must not be tolerated.
