Aversa – Caught attempting to smuggle drugs into prison by throwing packages over the wall, a man was stopped and arrested by the Penitentiary Police in Aversa. The operation took place near the prison's designated walking areas.
During the operation, officers seized approximately 500 grams of hashish. After the usual formalities, the man was taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison and held there.
The USPP announced the incident. Provincial Secretary Angelo Palumbo expressed his "congratulations on the brilliant operation," noting that the work was completed "despite the chronic staff shortage" and emphasizing the staff's "spirit of sacrifice" in ensuring order and safety within the institutions.
Ciro Auricchio and Giuseppe Moretti, regional secretary and president of the USPP, respectively, also spoke on the matter. They said the arrest confirms the Penitentiary Police's ability to "intercept and neutralize the continuous attempts to smuggle drugs into prisons."
