Rome – The countdown is on for the final drawing of the Italian Lottery, airing tomorrow on Rai 1. Sales are booming: 9,6 million tickets sold, a 15-year high, according to Agimeg data. This represents a 10% increase compared to the 2024-2025 edition (8,6 million), which promises more prizes and surprises.
The partnership with Affari Tuoi, hosted by Stefano De Martino, has worked brilliantly. With increased sales, a jump in total prizes is expected: at least 300 versus last year's 280, or even more substantial prizes. New this year: a Special Prize of €300.000, awarded in advance via a dedicated procedure.
The top prize remains €5 million, tax-free, with 180 days to collect from the Official Bulletin (deadline around July). Beware: since 2002, €32 million has gone unclaimed! A record low was reached in 2008, with a €5 million top prize lost in Rome, which earned two super prizes the following year.
Campania on the podium: the map of fortune
Lazio, Lombardy, and Campania have dominated the prize pool since 2000. Here's the ranking of the first prizes (26 total):
Lazio: 8
Lombardy: 5
Campania: 4
Emilia-Romagna and Veneto: 2 each
Marche, Piedmont, Liguria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Sicily: 1 each
Ten dry regions: Valle d'Aosta, Tuscany, Basilicata, Trentino AA, Abruzzo, Puglia, Umbria, Molise, Calabria, Sardinia.
For first-category prizes (138 total, €265 million), Rome leads with 26, followed by Milan (10), Naples, and Turin (7 each). No rich prizes were awarded in Valle d'Aosta, Trentino, Molise, Basilicata, and Sardinia.

It's interesting that sales are increasing so much, but I wonder if there will actually be bigger prizes, or if it's just news to attract more people. Maybe we don't know who wins this year yet.
