Naples – The Gulf of Naples is breathing fresh air after the storm: the sea weather conditions, significantly improving since late yesterday afternoon, have allowed the partial resumption of connections to Ischia, Capri, and Procida.
The three Neapolitan islands, isolated for almost the entire day on Saturday due to force 6-7 seas and south-westerly gusts of over 50 knots, are now reconnected to the mainland.
Starting this morning, the ports of Naples Porta di Massa and Pozzuoli have resumed regular service. Shipping companies—including Caremar, Snav, and Alilauro—confirmed that all ferries scheduled for this Sunday will operate, with punctual departures to the islands. Conventional vessels, less sensitive to residual wave motion, will ensure the flow of commuters, tourists, and essential goods.
However, the sea remains rough: waves up to 3 meters high and strong southwesterly winds continue to block high-speed hydrofoils. Several trips arriving and departing from Ischia (ports of Casamicciola and Ischia Ponte), Capri (Marina Grande), and Procida (Marina Grande) are suspended, with cumulative delays estimated at several hours. Real-time updates are available on the company websites and the Vesuvio Lines app.
The storm, which has already caused significant disruption in recent days, is expected to ease until tomorrow, according to the Port Authority's bulletins. Monitoring is ongoing to prevent further disruptions.

It's good that the sea has improved and the islands are connected again. However, I'm concerned about the delays and cancellations, because tourists need to travel without problems. Let's hope conditions remain stable.
