Il Maltempo The storm is once again making its presence felt in Campania, and the regional Civil Protection agency is taking action. A yellow weather alert has been issued starting at midnight and for the entire day tomorrow, Saturday, January 24th, affecting much of the region, with particular attention to localized hydrogeological risk.

According to the forecast, scattered rainfall is expected, including showers or thunderstorms, with possible intense events concentrated in short periods of time. This could cause disruption, especially in the most hydrogeologically vulnerable areas, where the already saturated ground struggles to absorb further rainfall.

The alert affects large portions of Campania, from the Campanian Plain to the metropolitan area of Naples, including the islands, the Vesuvian area, the Upper Volturno, the Matese mountains, the Sorrento and Amalfi Peninsulas, the Sarno Mountains, the Picentini mountains, and the Tusciano and Alto Sele areas. Flooding is possible in these areas, along with rising river levels and possible inundations, as well as rockfalls and landslides due to the fragile soil.

The Civil Protection Department has urged local authorities to activate Municipal Operations Centers and adopt all necessary measures to prevent and contain any potential problems, constantly monitoring the evolution of weather conditions. The appeal for caution is also extended to residents, who are asked to exercise particular caution when traveling and in high-risk areas during the heaviest rains.
