MARCIANISE – Environmental monitoring continues unabated in the so-called Land of Fires area. Yesterday afternoon, Carabinieri from the Marcianise station reported two married couples living in the Aversa countryside, who are believed to be responsible for illegal waste management.

Officers stopped the couple while they were traveling on board a truck in the municipal area. During the checks, they discovered that the vehicle was not registered with the National Register of Environmental Managers, a mandatory requirement for waste transportation, and that the cargo lacked the required identification form.

Inside the vehicle were approximately five hundred kilograms of non-hazardous special waste, mostly ferrous metal and electrical and electronic equipment, moved in violation of environmental regulations. This activity, in addition to being illegal, fuels an uncontrolled waste disposal cycle in an area already plagued by years of environmental emergencies.

In light of the irregularities discovered, the Carabinieri proceeded with the criminal seizure of the truck and its entire load. The vehicle and waste were entrusted to an authorized custodian, while the two suspects are now facing proceedings for unauthorized waste management.

The operation is part of the ongoing law enforcement effort to combat environmental crimes, stemming the phenomenon of dumping and illicit trafficking that continue to threaten the environmental balance of the Caserta area.

It's important that the authorities are increasingly monitoring the waste situation in the Land of Fires. But it's strange that there are still people who don't follow the rules. I hope this is a step forward in solving the problem.
