Naples – Jealousy turns violent, and a 50-year-old man is arrested, suspected of attempted aggravated murder. In recent days, Carabinieri officers from the Marianella station in Naples executed an arrest ordered by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office following an investigation coordinated by the 4th "Vulnerable Groups" Section.
According to investigators' reconstruction, the incident occurred on Christmas Day. The man allegedly broke into his ex-partner's home and, upon seeing her new partner, reacted with extreme violence.
In a fit of jealousy, he grabbed a 32-centimeter-long kitchen knife and stabbed the victim deeply in the back.
Wounded and bleeding, the man managed to reach the nearby Marianella Carabinieri station in Naples, where he was rushed to Cardarelli Hospital with a red code. His condition was assessed as serious, with a guarded prognosis.
The attacker had moved away from Piscinola
After the attack, the alleged perpetrator disappeared for several hours, leading investigators to suspect he had temporarily left Italy, where he works. His return to the Piscinola neighborhood, however, allowed the Carabinieri to locate him.
At the sight of the soldiers, the man attempted a brief escape by climbing onto the balconies of some nearby houses, before being stopped and taken to Poggioreale prison.
The preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Naples subsequently confirmed the arrest, ordering his pre-trial detention. The suspect remains, as required by law, presumed innocent until a final sentence is reached.
