Naples – Not just a routine check, but a full-blown seizure of bladed weapons and objects capable of causing harm occurred Saturday afternoon in the heart of the Vomero neighborhood.
Officers from the local police station, during their routine patrol of the area, noticed a man lurking suspiciously among passers-by in Piazza Fanzago.
The cautious behavior of the subject, a 58-year-old Neapolitan, prompted the police to investigate further. The search uncovered a veritable "offense kit," a mix of technology and vintage weapons:
A knuckle duster equipped with an electric shock system;
A professional truncheon;
An animated staff that concealed a 40-centimeter-long steel blade inside.
In addition to the weapons, the man was found in possession of approximately 3 grams of narcotic substances.
The 58-year-old was immediately charged with possession of weapons and offensive objects. Regarding drug possession, he was reported to the Prefecture and issued an administrative fine for illegal possession of narcotics for personal use.
The motives that drove the man to roam the Vomero shopping streets fully armed remain unclear.

It's very strange that a man would carry weapons like that around Vomero. I don't understand why he feels the need to be armed. Safety must always be a priority for all of us citizens who live there.
