There were moments of intense tension last night in Naples, immediately following the match between Napoli and Chelsea, which took place at the Maradona Stadium and sealed the Azzurri's exit from the Champions League with the Londoners' 3-2 victory.
Around 1:00 a.m., two groups of ultras, one Neapolitan and the other linked to English fans, came into contact in the heart of the Chiaia district, near a pub located on Via Bisignano, on the corner of Vico Belledonne.
The brawl and the intervention of the police
According to the reconstruction, verbal provocations quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. The situation escalated within minutes, necessitating the intervention of law enforcement. State Police patrols from the Police Headquarters' General Prevention Office, the San Ferdinando police station, and DIGOS personnel, supported by the Carabinieri, arrived on the scene.
Ultras flee when patrols arrive
Upon seeing the uniforms, the groups of fans involved quickly dispersed, disappearing into the streets of the city center. The prompt action of law enforcement prevented more serious consequences and a protracted clash.
No injuries, but high alert
Monitoring operations were immediately activated at the city's main hospitals, but at the moment there have been no reports of injuries related to the accidents.

I don't know if the fans are the only ones to blame; the authorities also share the blame in these types of situations. Security measures are never sufficient in these cases; it's very worrying.
It was a very unpleasant incident in Naples. It's unclear how fans could get this far after a football match. Security should have been higher, and law enforcement should have intervened sooner.
