NAPLES – A ban on the sale of alcohol and severe restrictions on beverage containers are in place ahead of the Champions League match between Napoli and Chelsea, scheduled for tomorrow at 9:00 PM at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Mayor Gaetano Manfredi has signed an ordinance, at the request of the Police Headquarters, aimed at ensuring public order and safety on a day that promises to be very busy.
The measure will be in effect from 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, until 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, and will affect both the area around the Fuorigrotta stadium and several areas of the city center traditionally frequented by fans. The sale and serving of alcoholic and spirited beverages will be prohibited in the streets surrounding the stadium, while even stricter restrictions will be implemented in some central areas, with the sale of beverages in bottles, cans, glass, rigid plastic, or Tetra Pak containers prohibited. Consumption will be permitted only in lightweight plastic or paper cups.
The measure aims to reduce the risks associated with alcohol abuse and the improper use of containers, which are often transformed into dangerous objects in crowded environments. The Municipality and law enforcement will strengthen enforcement to ensure compliance with the ordinance. Violators face administrative fines ranging from €25 to €500.

It's important that the mayor imposes these restrictions for safety, but I hope there won't be too many problems with the fans. People should understand the importance of respecting the rules, even if it's difficult.
