Naples – A tide of people flooded the heart of Naples to welcome the arrival of 2026, confirming the Campania capital as one of the most sought-after destinations for international tourism.

The traditional New Year's Eve concert in Piazza del Plebiscito was a sold-out event, transforming the city's iconic space into an open-air stage where music, enthusiasm, and impeccable organization marked the start of the new year.

Elodie's triumph and the stars of the national scene

The evening, produced by Pino Oliva with artistic direction by Gianni Simioli, came to life after the afternoon contest dedicated to new talent. Performances by Serena Brancale and, especially, Elodie, further heightened the atmosphere.

The Roman pop star, undisputed queen of midnight, accompanied the square beyond the countdown, igniting those present with her most famous hits in a mix of energy and charisma.

Alongside the national stars, the strong connection with Neapolitan musical tradition and innovation was evident. Performing on stage were artists of the caliber of Gigi Finizio, Franco Ricciardi, Andrea Sannino, and LDA, supported by the rhythms of Daniele Decibel Bellini, offering a diverse cross-section of the current music scene.

Manfredi: "Naples is a great European capital."

Mayor Gaetano Manfredi was visibly pleased and offered a message of hope to the crowd from the stage: "It was a fantastic evening. Naples once again demonstrates that it is a European capital capable of delivering a great performance, both for the quality of its artistic offerings and for the warm and welcoming response from residents and tourists."

The mayor then concluded with a wish for peace and serenity, emphasizing the validity of a festive format spread over four days.

A city in celebration: from fireworks to waterfront discos

At the stroke of midnight, the sky lit up with the customary fireworks display, followed by a widespread celebration. Piazza del Plebiscito wasn't the only square: New Year's Eve also transformed Piazza Municipio and the Rotonda Diaz into enormous discos under the stars.

From 22:00 PM, thousands of young people danced to electronic, funk, and pop, led by DJ sets from console icons like Claudio Cecchetto, continuing the celebrations until the early hours of the morning in an atmosphere of shared joy.

The article gives a beautiful description of New Year's Eve in Naples, but there's too much I don't quite understand, like who the artists were and what they did. Overall, though, it seems like a great event.
