Naples – Youth violence in Naples continues to show its most disturbing side. The latest incident occurred last night in the heart of the city, in Piazza Carità, where two minors were attacked, beaten, and injured with a glass bottle by a group of youths following a petty argument.
According to investigators' reconstruction, it all began with a beer spill accidentally landing on one of the attackers' shoes. From there, the situation escalated within moments.
The two boys, aged 15 and 16, with no criminal record, living between Chiaia and Posillipo and belonging to families with no criminal records, were slapped and hit on the arms with a piece of glass.
It was around midnight when 113 received several reports of a fight in progress in Piazza Carità. Officers from the Montecalvario police station responded to the scene and began an investigation, gathering statements from those present. At the same time, Army soldiers stationed at the fixed post between Via Toledo and Largo Berlinguer noticed two young men running towards the scene, visibly shaken, calling for help: "We're being chased by four or five young men."
The attackers fled towards the Spanish Quarters
The attackers most likely fled towards the Spanish Quarters, quickly disappearing.
The minors provided an initial description: one of the attackers was wearing a yellow sweatshirt and had curly hair, while another was wearing a black designer jacket. The victims believe they were adults, but this is still unclear.
After notifying their parents, the two boys were taken to the hospital. Treated for bruises and minor stab wounds to their arms, they were discharged with a prognosis of a few days. Police are now reviewing footage from surveillance cameras in the area to identify the perpetrators.
The incident, fortunately concluded without serious consequences, is part of a much broader and more alarming scenario. In Naples, the phenomenon of youth gangs and violence among young people continues to grow, marked by sudden attacks, fights, stabbings, and, in the most tragic cases, even deaths and serious injuries.
A spiral that in recent months has increasingly seen minors involved in episodes of brutality committed in the streets of the nightlife and in the squares of the historic center.
Despite increased security and a heightened police presence, now active beyond weekends, tensions remain high. The attack in Piazza Carità is yet another sign of the profound unease affecting some of the younger generations, which continues to challenge institutions, families, and educational communities on how to stem increasingly precocious and widespread violence.

Reading the article about youth violence in Naples, I'm struck by the seriousness of this problem. Young people should be more careful and not get involved in silly arguments, like the beer splash. It's sad to see young people involved in such brutal incidents. Let's hope the authorities find a solution to stop this spiral of violence.
