Naples – Guardia di Finanza Lieutenant Giuseppe Silvestro, defended by lawyer Marco Campora, has been acquitted of all charges – criminal conspiracy, corruption, and collusion in financial fraud – and is involved in the investigation by the European Public Prosecutor's Office (Maria Teresa Orlando) into an alleged criminal organization engaged in tax fraud.

According to the indictment, the organization operated through shell companies incorporated in Italy and abroad and registered under front names, with the aim of evading taxes and damaging the Treasury. The European Public Prosecutor's Office had requested immediate trial for nine of the suspects.

Among them was the entrepreneur Giovanni Pizzicato, believed by investigators, together with the accountant Fabrizio Mezzaro, to be at the top of the organization.

Investigators allege that the association was contacted by entrepreneurs burdened by significant tax debts. The organization, also using compliant financiers—who had previously pleaded guilty—was able, for a fee, to block or slow down the tax proceedings against them.

The judge sentenced four defendants to prison terms ranging from six to ten years, also acquitting them on some charges. A full acquittal was handed down only to Lieutenant Silvestro. The other defendants, including Pizzicato himself, opted for plea bargaining during the trial, reaching an agreement with the prosecution.

It's a very complicated situation. I don't know if it's right or wrong, but if the lieutenant was acquitted, it means there was insufficient evidence. Justice must always take its course and respect the judge's decisions.
