Naples – A festive evening threatened to turn tragic in the heart of Neapolitan nightlife. For this reason, the Naples Police Chief signed his countermeasure: a 30-day closure of a venue on Via Chiaia, at the request of the San Ferdinando Police Station.
An order blocking the serving of food and drink comes after a high-risk operation on Christmas night.
It all started on the evening of December 24th. Law enforcement officers, entering the business, made a shocking discovery. Not only was illegal music being played at an abnormal volume, audible from the street, and without any authorization.
The real bomb was inside: the small venue was packed with people, well beyond safety limits.
But the investigations uncovered even more serious violations. The location was a potential trap: lacking adequate escape routes, windows, air vents, and even fire extinguishers. A lethal combination that immediately triggered a red alert for "serious compromise of public order and safety."
Faced with the concrete and present danger, the officers did not hesitate. That same evening, they ordered an immediate suspension of the music. Then, after further investigation, the most severe measure was imposed: a 30-day total ban.
The closure, the reasons state, is the only way to "avoid a concrete threat to public order and the safety of citizens." A warning to all nightlife enthusiasts: in the historic center, safety rules cannot be compromised. Especially when customers' lives hang in the balance.

Reading the article, it seems clear to me that the situation at the venue was very serious and there's no excuse for having so many people inside. The 30-day closure is right, but I hope the safety issues are resolved.
