Naples - A new precautionary seizure of three million euros has been made as part of the "Golden Oil" operation. The investigating judge has issued a precautionary measure against six suspects charged with criminal conspiracy, illegal waste trafficking, aiding and abetting, false ideology, and abuse of office.
The crimes in question date back to the two-year period 2021-2022 and involved several Italian regions.
The investigation, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Directorate, uncovered a criminal syndicate that, through companies authorized to collect used vegetable oils, amassed illicit profits from the processing and resale of the waste for biodiesel production.
Officers from the Environmental Protection and Energy Security Command and the Bologna Environmental Operations Unit discovered a widespread business that affected Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige, Lazio, and Campania.
Yesterday's order represents the second chapter of the investigation: on May 14, 2025, the investigating judge had already targeted eleven suspects with the seizure of the corporate assets and structures of the two companies involved. The evidentiary burden has now focused on six names, with the confiscable amount estimated at approximately three million euros, corresponding to the illicit profits derived from the crimes.

It's truly incredible how these situations continue over time. I don't understand how the authorities can allow these illegal activities to continue without stronger and more decisive intervention. Justice must take its course.
