Naples Metro Line 6 is preparing to extend its service. The extended schedule is expected to arrive before the Easter holidays, with the aim of making a strategic connection between Fuorigrotta and the city center more useful and accessible.
The announcement was made by the city council's councilor for transportation, Edoardo Cosenza, speaking at the city council meeting. "Permission has already been requested from ANSFISA, and it's part of the ANM's program," he explained, clarifying that the administrative process has already begun.
The line connecting the western part of the city to Piazza Municipio currently stops operating around 3:00 PM, a limitation that has often raised concerns among commuters, students, and workers. The extended schedule aims to transform Line 6 from a partial service to a truly integrated infrastructure within the urban transport network, especially given the increased tourist and city traffic associated with the spring season.
The new time slot still needs to be defined in detail, but Ansfisa's approval represents the key step towards enabling ANM to implement the service extension. This long-awaited initiative could significantly change travel patterns between the western part of the city and the heart of Naples.
