Naples – The fight against drug trafficking in the city's sensitive areas continues. Yesterday morning, State Police officers completed another operation in Piazza Enrico De Nicola, culminating in the arrest of a 30-year-old man.
The operation is part of the extraordinary territorial control operations organized by the Naples Police Headquarters. Officers from the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station, while patrolling the area, caught the man—a Nigerian citizen with an undocumented status and a criminal record—selling a package to a buyer in exchange for money.

Upon seeing the uniforms, the suspect attempted to flee on foot, leading to a brief chase that ended shortly afterward when the officers managed to block his path. The search confirmed the suspicions: the man was found in possession of approximately 6 grams of heroin and the €10 bill he had just cashed.
The 30-year-old was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute narcotics and resisting arrest. The buyer, however, managed to disappear into the surrounding streets shortly before the intervention.

Honor to the police
This is a thoughtful article about crime in our city. The police operation appears to have been effective, but there are growing questions about how to improve security and control of the area.
