Naples – Piazza Mercato turns on the lights of tradition again. The fourth edition of "Epiphany in Piazza Mercato – Stocking and Toy Fair" has officially begun, transforming one of Naples' most iconic locations into the headquarters of the Befana.
Fifty-four wooden huts filled with sweets, toys, and crafts will provide the backdrop for a three-day event that aims to surpass last year's record attendance of 50.
The initiative, promoted and funded by the Department of Tourism of the City of Naples, is not just a moment of celebration, but a strategic piece in the area's redevelopment plan.
"The Municipality is investing heavily in Piazza Mercato," Mayor Gaetano Manfredi declared during the inauguration. "This celebration is a historic opportunity to push for the revitalization of a strategic area with great development opportunities."
A program between music and solidarity
The atmosphere, already heated up by the first musical performances, will come to life tomorrow, Sunday, January 4th.

The evening will close with the energy of the "That's Napoli Live Show," directed by Maestro Carlo Morelli.
The grand finale: the White Night
The celebrations culminate on Monday, January 5th. The booths will remain open until midnight, but the heart of the action will be the Notte Bianca (White Night) starting at 21:00 PM. Local favorites will take center stage, including Mavi, the duo Mr. Hyde, Gino Da Vinci, and the captivating comedy of I Ditelo Voi.
“We want this square to recover its ancient vocation as a place of commerce, culture and tourism” underlined Councillor Teresa Armato, highlighting the synergic work carried out with the II Municipality and the local associations (Musicant, Asso.gio.ca. and the consortia of Borgo Orefici and Antiche Botteghe Tessili).
Piazza Mercato, therefore, is no longer just a reminder of Naples's past, but an active laboratory where the Epiphany celebration becomes a driving force for urban rebirth and social cohesion.
