Naples – He wasn't looking for a coffee, much less a moment of relaxation. His presence at that bar on Via Santa Maria a Cubito, in the heart of the Chiaiano neighborhood, was dictated by entirely different business needs.
What betrayed him was precisely that frenetic attitude, too nervous for a simple customer, which attracted the attention of the Carabinieri of the local station, engaged in a territorial control operation against street drug dealing.
Giovanni Grillo, a 26-year-old local man already known to law enforcement, was arrested in flagrante delicto on charges of drug possession with intent to sell and illegal possession of weapons.
Control and seizure
The officers' hunch proved correct as soon as the search began. In the young man's pockets, there were not only personal effects, but also a veritable retail drug dealing kit, cleverly disguised. The Carabinieri found 30 grams of hashish, already carefully divided into doses ready for sale.
The 26-year-old's method of concealment was unusual: the narcotic substance was hidden inside unsuspecting sweet packets, perhaps in an attempt to evade a cursory visual check or to go unnoticed among the other patrons of the establishment.
In addition to the drugs, Grillo had €370 in cash with him, a sum investigators believe to be the proceeds of recent or ongoing illegal activity. But what was most concerning was the discovery of a weapon: the young man was carrying a pair of knuckle dusters, which were immediately seized along with the cash and drugs.
After the usual formalities, the 26-year-old was held pending trial, where he will face the charges. The operation confirms the Carabinieri's focus on the phenomenon of "itinerant" drug dealers who use commercial establishments as temporary bases for their trafficking.

Naples - The scene unfolded on Via Caldieri, the beating heart of the Vomero neighborhood, where the Carabinieri of the local Carabinieri Company's Operations Unit had set up a targeted surveillance operation. The article mentions a young man being arrested for drug dealing, but it's unclear whether he was actually guilty or not. Law enforcement did a good job, but there are always questions about how these checks are conducted. I hope they're properly investigated.
