Naples – A strong institutional response followed the latest raid on the Asterix community center in eastern Naples. Prefect Michele Di Bari personally visited the center this afternoon to convey the state's support, surrounded by law enforcement officials.
"The future of future generations is being prepared here; these places are lifeblood," Di Bari emphasized, speaking among the residents of the center, which has become a symbol of unity and now also of resistance. A clear signal: attacking a social center is attacking the entire community, and the state will not stand by and watch.
Indeed, the State Police responded to the latest act of vandalism within hours, identifying the perpetrator. The prefect emphasized this efficiency, publicly thanking the police and judiciary for their "lightning-fast response." "When the public and private sectors come together for the common good, the institutions are there," he warned.
Also in focus was a thank you to the mayor of Naples for the attention he's given to the center, demonstrating a united leadership. But the heart of the message, addressed to managers and volunteers, was a terse encouragement: "Don't be discouraged, keep going. There may be setbacks, but we are here to give hope to those who need it."
A "no" to intimidation, then. And a "yes" to the presence of the State, which chooses to be visible precisely where someone has attempted to sow fear.
