Yesterday, January 20, 2026, the State Police executed a precautionary custody order against two men, believed to be responsible for a robbery committed in the summer of 2024 in the Barra neighborhood.
The raid and the escape
The events date back to August 25, 2024. According to investigators' reconstruction, the two broke into a commercial establishment in the eastern part of Naples, managing to steal approximately 700 euros in cash.
To avoid attracting attention, the couple had parked their car in a nearby condominium park and walked to the store. After the robbery, they rushed back to their vehicle and fled at full speed through the neighborhood streets.
The investigations: the "Achilles heel" was the car
Officers from the San Giovanni-Barra Police Station closed the loop on the suspects. The turning point came from a meticulous analysis of private surveillance footage from the area.
The images allowed them to precisely identify the getaway car, which later turned out to be used by one of the two arrested men. From there, a series of technical investigations and checks allowed them to identify the accomplice.

It's interesting how the police were able to find the two suspects thanks to the cameras. But I wonder if there have been other similar cases in the past; perhaps the security in the area isn't sufficient.
