Naples, Corso Meridionale, Friday evening around 23 p.m. A sudden scene of violence erupted, with bottles brandished and three non-EU citizens arguing. One of the men was shot in the ear, while his companion, who was trying to help him, was shot in the throat and began bleeding heavily.

According to the testimony of a passing taxi driver, the attacker fled in the direction of Piazza Nazionale. An Army patrol arrived on the scene and immediately alerted law enforcement and emergency services via radio. Paramedics transported both injured men to the hospital, one of whom was in more serious condition.

The incident was reported directly to MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli by the taxi driver who witnessed the scene and raised the alarm. Borrelli commented: "What happened on Corso Meridionale is yet another serious episode of violence, demonstrating how some areas of the city are now the scene of increasingly ferocious brawls and attacks, with people being hit in the face and even in the throat, risking their lives.

We have intervened several times on these very streets to support residents who are demanding greater safety and are tired of witnessing this violence. These unacceptable scenes sow fear among residents and workers who travel these streets every evening. I thank the taxi driver who raised the alarm and the Army patrol who responded promptly, but we cannot continue to rely solely on the goodwill of individuals.

We need constant surveillance of the area, targeted checks, and rapid interventions to stop those who think they can turn the streets of Naples into a ring of violence. Those who commit these acts must be identified and brought to justice without hesitation.

The Basic Taxi Drivers Committee publicly praised their colleague's gesture: "We learned from Deputy Borrelli's page about a very responsible gesture by a taxi driver who helped save the life of a non-EU citizen.

Following an argument between immigrants, the colleague promptly alerted an Army patrol, allowing emergency services to intervene and demonstrating civic duty and humanity. Although we do not know the identity of the taxi driver involved, the Committee cannot help but express our pride in what happened. This incident demonstrates once again that taxi drivers are not only represented by negative events, but also by concrete gestures of responsibility and solidarity.
