Naples – Law enforcement officers have cleared the Torri Aragonesi area on Via Marina, dismantling illegal shacks erected by groups of homeless people, mostly foreigners, and removing 26 quintals of accumulated waste.
The operation, launched this morning at the instigation of the Naples Police Headquarters, involved officers from the Vicaria-Mercato, San Giovanni-Barra, and Pianura police stations, the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue, the Carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza, the Metropolitan Police, the Local Police, Naples Services, Asia, and ASL Napoli 1. The objective: to combat the degradation in the areas surrounding Via Marina and restore decorum to the public space in front of the historic monument.
During the inspections, the operators cleared out the makeshift shelters, removing household goods that posed a concrete risk to the safety of residents. To assist the homeless, the social cooperatives "Camper Udec" and "Unità Strada Lotto 5" intervened on-site and took them into their care.
The area remains under close surveillance by law enforcement to prevent relapses and ensure the maintenance of the results achieved. This is one of the extraordinary services implemented by the Police Headquarters to curb abandonment and petty crime in the area.

The cleanup operation was crucial in solving the waste and degradation problem, but I noticed a lack of concrete support for the homeless who remain in difficulty after the eviction; this is important.
