Naples – The story of Antonella Bonomo, who defied cancer to become a mother, has stirred politicians.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani telephoned Antonella Bonomo, the young Neapolitan woman who, a few years ago, while being treated at the Pascale National Cancer Institute in Naples, chose to temporarily interrupt her cancer treatment to carry her pregnancy to term and give birth to her son.

Fulvio Martusciello, regional secretary of Forza Italia in Campania, comments: "Antonio Tajani's phone call doesn't surprise me at all. Tajani is a father before he is a politician. His humanity was evident in Crans Montana as it was on every other occasion in his public and private life."

"This gesture," adds Martusciello, "has a value that goes beyond personal closeness. It is a message of hope for the many women facing illness and who need to see a light at the end of the tunnel." "Antonella's story, who chose life even in suffering, is a moving one that speaks to the entire country. It is right that the institutions are able to stand by us with discretion, respect, and profound humanity," concludes the leader of the Campanian Azzurri.
