Naples – A trail of fire crossed the province of Naples during the night between January 11th and 12th.
Two separate incidents, which occurred shortly after each other in Sant'Anastasia and Casalnuovo, required the emergency intervention of the Carabinieri and Fire Brigade, leaving behind destroyed vehicles and damage to businesses.
The first fire in Sant'Anastasia
The first alarm was raised at first light on Via Donizetti. In what appeared to be a large-scale fire, three cars parked near number 18 were engulfed in flames. The heat and flames spread to the adjacent building, severely damaging the shutter and entrance of a butcher's shop. Carabinieri officers from the Castello di Cisterna mobile radio unit arrived on the scene to conduct initial investigations.
Fire breaks out in Casalnuovo: a fish shop was hit.
Shortly before, around 4:30 a.m., a similar incident occurred on Corso Umberto I in Casalnuovo. In this case, a Ford Fusion owned by a 51-year-old local man caught fire. The fire, in addition to destroying the vehicle, damaged the pressure tank of a nearby fishmonger's shop, threatening to compromise the business's water system.
The investigations
In both cases, fortunately, no injuries or poisoning were reported. The military of the Castello di Cisterna police have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the fires. Currently, no possibility has been ruled out, ranging from a short circuit to arson, and footage from any video surveillance cameras in the two areas is being examined to reconstruct the exact sequence of events.

The fire in Naples appears to be very serious; there's damage to a butcher's shop and a fishmonger's, but fortunately no one was hurt. I hope the Carabinieri find whoever did these terrible things quickly. It's important for everyone's safety.
