The war of the drug dealing squares and the Colalongo murder: a clash between the Luongo-Covone-Aloia and Filippini clans

A brutal execution, caught on camera, stemming from the feud with the Filippini gang. The Naples DDA reconstructs the instigators, killers, and the criminal underworld behind the ambush that cost Ottavio Colalongo his life.

The silent feud in the Vesuvian area: the murder of Ottavio Colalongo is not an isolated crime, but the culmination of a long-standing Camorra feud in the Vesuvian area. Afragola, Acerra, Scisciano, San Vitaliano, and Marigliano are the territories contested by two opposing groups: on one side, the Filippini clan, and on the other, the association linked to the Luongo-Covone-Aloia group.

A war fought for control of extortion and, above all, drug dealing centers, the true economic lifeblood of the organizations.

According to the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate, the murder of 17 December 2025 fits perfectly into this logic: a settling of scores aimed at redefining criminal balances and sending a message of domination over the territory.

The victim: who was Ottavio Colalongo?

Ottavio Colalongo, a repeat offender, was considered a key figure for the Filippini clan of San Vitaliano. He had been monitored by investigators for some time, having previously been implicated in previous DDA investigations, and was believed to be central to the management of several disputed drug dealing hubs.

His elimination, according to investigators, was intended to break the resistance of the rival group and favor the expansion of the Luongo-Covone-Aloia partnership.

The Trap: The Fake Drug Date

The ambush was methodically planned. The suspects, feigning interest in purchasing drugs, arranged a meeting with Colalongo. It was a carefully planned trap: the victim was lured to Via Giuseppe Garibaldi in Scisciano, near number 52, the chosen location for the execution.

According to the arrest warrant, several individuals participate in the preparatory phase, each with distinct but converging roles: those who contact the victim, those who handle logistics, and those who provide cover and escape routes.

The execution: mafia “justice” on the streets

On the evening of December 17, 2025, Colalongo was riding his scooter when he was approached by a high-powered motorcycle, a Honda Transalp. On board were Antonio Aloia and Eduardo Polverino. After knocking him over, Aloia fired several gunshots, hitting him in vital parts of his body.

But that's not all. Once the victim is on the ground, dying, the killers continue their brutality, even shooting him in the face. Investigators have described it as a "brutal" execution, typically mafia-style, designed to instill terror and reassert criminal control over the territory.

The images and the mistakes: cameras, motorcycle and gun

The murder scene was captured by multiple private surveillance cameras in the area. The footage allows investigators to reconstruct the ambush almost live.

Not only that. The killers, in their escape, abandoned the motorcycle they used, the murder weapon, a fanny pack, and a cell phone. These crucial errors, combined with cell phone analysis and extensive wiretapping, allowed them to quickly narrow down the case.

A key element of the investigation concerns Ciro Guardasole, who was already subjected to wiretaps in another proceeding: conversations and movements are being interpreted by investigators in light of the murder, taking on a specific meaning in the accusatory mosaic.

Masterminds, killers, and couriers: the chain of command

According to the DDA, the murder stemmed from a decision by the gang's top brass. Nicola Luongo and Antonio Covone are identified as the instigators. The perpetrators were Antonio Aloia and Eduardo Polverino.

An organized structure revolves around them: someone procures the motorcycle, someone guards it, someone provides the clothing, someone accompanies and acts as a relay, and someone takes care of recovering the killers before and after the crime. An "armed" organization, with a stable supply of weapons, capable of planning and carrying out a murder in the middle of a residential area.

The mafia method and the message to the territory

The DDA contests the aggravating circumstance of the mafia method: a premeditated crime, committed in a blatant manner, aimed at evoking the intimidating power of the clan and favouring the Luongo-Covone-Aloia group in the war against the Filipinos.

According to investigators, the Colalongo murder represents a turning point in the feud: a clear signal to anyone operating or intending to operate in the drug dealing hubs of the Vesuvian area without the authorization of the dominant clan.
