The theater festival returns to the Sant'Alfonso Maria de' Liguori Auditorium in Pagani, organized by Alfonso Giannattasio, creator and patron of the Pagani Teatro Festival, now in its sixth year.
Tomorrow, January 4, 2026, at 19:00 pm, the Paganese stage will host The suitcase on the bed, the famous comedy by Eduardo Tartaglia, presented by the FSSL – PROTEATRO company, directed by and starring Domenico Palmiero, one of the most appreciated talents of the new generation of Campanian theatre.
The event, although outside of the well-known festival, fully reflects its philosophy. The suitcase on the bed, a show full of comical and hilarious situations, embodies the goal that Giannattasio has been pursuing for years: to engage young people through fun and accessible works, maintaining affordable prices and imprinting a strong orientation towards solidarity.
On this occasion, the charitable purpose is realized by donating the proceeds to the Redemptorist Foreign Missions Onlus, committed to assisting vulnerable children and families in Madagascar through education, healthcare, nutrition, and social work.
The plot revolves around Achille Lo Chiummo, an unauthorized night watchman at a construction site for the new Metro Line, forced to live there with his partner Brigida due to severe financial difficulties. The precariousness of their existence pushes Achille to devise a drastic escape route: altering a letter in his old registry documents to show he's related to a notorious crime boss and thus gain access to the Protection Program for the families of informants. The plan, as ingenious as it is desperate, however, fails to produce the desired results, dragging the couple into a spiral of paradoxical and unpredictable situations.
The comedy, created by Eduardo Tartaglia and a cult classic since its debut in 2008, combines comedy and reflection and fits perfectly into the marriage of art and solidarity that will characterize the evening in Pagana. Taking the stage will be the highly accomplished actors Daniela Merenda, Antonio Lippiello, Clementina Gesumaria, Alberto Tortora, Felice D'Anna, and Giovanni Del Prete of the FSSL – PROTEATRO company, artistically directed by Domenico Palmiero, also in the role of actor. This acclaimed Campanian performer of astonishing talent is deeply rooted in the Eduardo tradition that inspired his theatrical journey.
For those who love good comedy and want to support an important cause, tomorrow night's performance is an opportunity not to be missed. The Auditorium, with its 500 seats and well-established role as a cultural hub for the area, still has some seats available. Those wishing to book the night before the performance can do so by calling 338 9135029.

I think the show could be a very interesting opportunity for everyone, especially young people. Although I'm not sure if the plot is as engaging as they say, I would love to see it with friends.
