The Naples Police Headquarters continues its extraordinary operations to combat drug possession and trafficking on the Sorrento peninsula. On Saturday evening, officers from the Sorrento Police Station arrested a 40-year-old man from the Oplonti area, with a criminal record, on charges of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The patrol, engaged in local patrols, was passing through Via dei Tigli in Piano di Sorrento when they noticed the man loitering suspiciously near a bus stop. The officers stopped him and subjected him to a search, finding him in possession of 11 packages of cocaine, weighing approximately 9 grams in total, and €185 in cash, divided into bills of various denominations.
Believing there might be further evidence to support the investigation, the officers extended the search to the 40-year-old's home, where they found another package containing the same narcotic. The man was subsequently arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities.
