Cocaine "along with pizza": Pizzeria targeted, 51-year-old arrested by Carabinieri: checkpoint in San Nicola la Strada.
Some customers were treated to double duty: in addition to pizza, they also had doses of cocaine. This is what the Carabinieri discovered during a check late yesterday afternoon between San Nicola la Strada and the San Marco Evangelista area, in the Caserta area.
A 51-year-old pizzeria owner was arrested red-handed for possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
The suspect: a young man enters and exits in a few moments
Officers from the San Nicola la Strada station, engaged in monitoring the area, noticed a young man enter the premises for a few moments and then walk away in a manner deemed suspicious.
Stopped and checked, he was allegedly found in possession of a dose of cocaine, just purchased inside the pizzeria, paying 50 euros.
The search: doses, cash and packaging material
At that point, the operation began at the restaurant. During the search of those present, including the owner, and subsequently of the pizzeria, the Carabinieri allegedly found another 10 doses of cocaine and several doses of hashish, as well as cash believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity. During the searches, they also allegedly found packaging materials, including a precision scale, hidden inside the business.
Further narcotics were reportedly recovered from the 51-year-old's home.
House arrest and one person reported
Once the evidence was gathered, the man—already known to law enforcement—was arrested red-handed. A second individual, present in the pizzeria at the time of the search, was charged with the same crimes.
Having informed the judicial authorities, the Public Prosecutor on duty ordered the arrested man to be placed under house arrest, pending a summary trial.
