Pomigliano – A bitter awakening in a ransacked home. During the night, while they slept, a retired couple was robbed in their home in the center of Pomigliano d'Arco, in the Neapolitan hinterland.
The criminals, still at large, entered through a French window on the ground floor and then proceeded undisturbed, stealing valuables and leaving traces of their passage.
The incident, which has brought predatory crime back into the spotlight in the area, prompted an immediate response from the authorities. The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, has already ordered "the immediate intensification of law enforcement patrols" in the Pomigliano area, with a particular focus on preventing this type of crime.
The security issue in Pomigliano is nothing new, and this nighttime theft comes amidst an already tense situation. Precisely to combat urban decay and petty crime, the municipality has already established three "red zones" in the neighborhoods considered most at risk. Security measures were the focus of recent technical discussions: first at the Pomigliano City Hall on January 9th, and then at the Government Palace on January 23rd.
"The goal," as the Prefecture emphasized, "is to increase the safety and livability of the area and contribute tangibly to citizens' perception of safety." Incidents like the latest theft risk eroding this perception, affecting vulnerable segments of the population.
The game isn't over. The situation in Pomigliano d'Arco and the strategies to be adopted, starting with the strengthening of the red zone system, will once again be the focus of an upcoming Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, already scheduled at the Prefecture. Meanwhile, investigations to identify and capture the night thieves are underway, while fear is growing among the neighborhood's elderly residents.
NAPLES – "The automotive crisis at the Pomigliano d'Arco facility has reached a new, dramatic point of no return." These are the words of Mauro Cristiani, general secretary of the Fiom Napoli, and Mario Di Costanzo, the union's automotive director, commenting on the initiation of the collective dismissal procedure by Trasnova for 53 workers at the plant. Pomigliano d'Arco.
"This is a very serious act that throws dozens of families into uncertainty and confirms that the first to pay for the state of neglect in the sector are the workers in related industries," union representatives say. "This is not an unexpected event, but rather the story of a disaster waiting to happen."
