arcade Another tense night in the historic stronghold of the Vollaro clan ended with an arrest. Carabinieri from the San Giorgio a Cremano station arrested Luciano Vollaro, 54, the boss's son and already known to law enforcement, following an early-night operation.
It was around 1:20 a.m. when the operations center alerted the patrol to the presence of a man on Via della Libertà who was throwing bottles at some parked cars. Upon arriving on the scene, the officers located the 54-year-old at number 335.
The man, clearly in a state of alteration, presumably due to alcohol or drug use, immediately began insulting a female police officer, making sexist remarks at her.
Meanwhile, a second patrol from the Ercolano station arrived. At that point, Vollaro first attempted to attack the officers, then fled. After a struggle and considerable difficulty, he was stopped and arrested.
The incident brings the spotlight back to an area long considered sensitive in terms of public order, a past scene of numerous incidents linked to organized crime.
Luciano Vollaro: Who is he and what is his role in the gang?
Luciano Vollaro, 54, is the son of Luigi "'o Califfo" Vollaro, the clan's founder. Over the years, Luciano has been implicated in investigations and arrests for extortion aggravated by mafia methods, along with other brothers, with measures taken by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate following investigations into racketeering in Portici.
In recent years, he has been identified in judicial police files as part of the family units linked to the gang's criminal activities, although often in lower-profile operational roles compared to previous generations.
