A tragedy was narrowly avoided in Torre del Greco, where severe weather caused the sudden collapse of an iron gazebo torn from a residential balcony. Strong wind gusts currently affecting the Vesuvius area transformed an outdoor structure into a dangerous flying object, which fell to the street after flying from the first floor of a building.

The incident occurred along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, in a busy area not far from school buildings, a few hundred meters from the border with Ercolano. According to initial reports, a particularly strong gust of wind uprooted the gazebo from its anchor points on the balcony. No one was home at the time of the incident.

The heavy metal structure fell to the ground, first crushing a streetlight, then several cars parked along the sidewalk, until it came to rest in the center of the road. Only a fortuitous coincidence prevented far more serious consequences: there were no vehicles passing at the time, and, thanks to the pouring rain, there were no pedestrians on the road.

The impact, however, caused significant property damage and disrupted traffic. Traffic remained blocked until the arrival of the municipal police, who secured the area and diverted vehicles to alternative routes. The necessary surveys were subsequently carried out to allow the removal of the remains of the gazebo and the destroyed streetlight.
