Naples – A lightning-fast robbery occurred yesterday afternoon at the MD supermarket on Corso San Giovanni a Teduccio, in the eastern suburbs of the city. A lone gunman burst into the store around 5:00 PM, forcing a cashier to hand over her current takings.
The loot amounted to just €400. After grabbing the money, the robber fled on foot, causing panic among customers and staff but without injuring anyone.
Officers from the San Giovanni a Teduccio police station responded to the scene, taking statements from those present and acquiring footage from the supermarket's internal security cameras. Footage from the "electronic eyes" installed along the street may have provided crucial assistance.
Investigators suspect the presence of an accomplice: a second man may have driven the getaway vehicle. The MD on Corso San Giovanni, among other things, had been targeted by criminals in the past.
Investigations are continuing at a rapid pace to identify the perpetrator.
