Naples – A decisive response from the State to stem the trail of petty crime that is plaguing the northern area of Naples and the coastal municipalities.

This is what emerged from the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, chaired yesterday by Prefect Michele di Bari, which focused on the escalation of predatory crimes recorded in the last week.

Special surveillance on the Central Axis

The main focus remains on the Asse Mediano, the strategic road connecting the densely populated municipalities of the hinterland. Here, armed robberies targeting motorists have reached alarming levels, prompting the Prefecture to confirm and strengthen extraordinary enforcement services.

At the technical meeting, which also included Senator Luigi Nave, the need for a massive and visible police presence along the most at-risk junctions to discourage criminal raids was reiterated.

The Giugliano "case"

Not just traffic, but also urban safety. Attention is high on Giugliano in Campania, where a series of predatory acts have shaken the local community in recent days. To demonstrate institutional support, the Prefect of Bari has announced that the Committee will meet in person at the Giugliano town hall in the coming days.

It will not be a simple technical meeting: the summit will be open to discussion with traders and citizens' representatives, with the aim of tailoring new measures to combat theft and robbery.

Emergency also in the Vesuvius area

The security map drawn up by the Prefecture doesn't end in the north. The summit also carefully analyzed the critical areas of Ottaviano and Torre Annunziata. Here too, the strategy calls for closer coordination between the various police forces to target criminal gangs involved in theft, ensuring 24-hour surveillance of the area in the areas deemed to be hot spots.
