Romania: Tragic road accident kills seven PAOK fans

What was supposed to be a trip of sporting passion turned tragic. Seven Greek PAOK fans lost their lives in a serious car accident in Romania, near the village of Lugojel, near the city of Timisoara. The news was confirmed by the Greek Embassy in Bucharest.

The supporters had departed Greece on a minibus headed to France, where they were scheduled to attend the Europa League match between PAOK and Lyon, scheduled for the coming days. According to initial reports by local media, the vehicle carrying ten people collided head-on with a tanker truck traveling in the opposite direction. The impact was extremely violent, leaving seven of the passengers with no chance of survival.

Three other people in the vehicle survived, but were seriously injured and rushed to local hospitals. Romanian authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, while in Greece the news has shocked the football world and the entire PAOK fan community, who have been struck by a sudden and devastating loss.
