A surprising verdict that overturns the procedural record and sparks controversy. Concetta Esposito, 31, from Cervinara, is free. The Naples Court of Appeals has swiftly overturned the heavy five-year and six-month sentence handed down by the Avellino Court for one of the most violent nights in the Benevento area.
The woman, along with Giuseppe Luciano, 37, from Bonea, had ended up in the justice system's meat grinder for the night of madness between June 2 and 3, 2024, in Rotondi. A settling of scores over money escalated into a domestic attack involving knife attacks. The two showed up at the victims' home, a financial dispute erupted, and the argument escalated into a failed massacre.
Mario Esposito was struck in the abdomen with serious wounds. Francesco Leonetti was hit in the chest, just a centimeter from his heart: "Anything further and he would have died," the emergency room doctors declared. After the incident, Esposito fled and later turned herself in to the Carabinieri in Cervinara. In her shocking testimony, Esposito even handed over the bloody knife, taking full blame: "I was the one who stabbed them, Luciano had nothing to do with it," she said. The woman was also accused of blocking the exit door with a stick to prevent the trapped victims from escaping.
But on appeal, the tune changed. Defense attorney Vittorio Fucci's arguments won over the Neapolitan judges. Concetta Esposito was no longer convicted of any crime: she was fully acquitted and released, with the revocation of the obligation to remain in Cervinara, which had been imposed upon her after her release in December 2024.
For her companion that night, Giuseppe Luciano, there was no mercy. The sentence of 8 years and 6 months was upheld in full. His defense was represented by the lawyer Teresa Meccariello, but there was no escape for him.
A divisive sentence that leaves a bitter aftermath among the victims' relatives, while for Concetta Esposito the doors of unexpected freedom have opened, after months of nightmare between prison and awaiting a trial that ultimately completely whitewashed her.
Villa Literno – The alleged Camorra shadow that loomed over former Villa Literno mayor and regional councilor Enrico Fabozzi has been definitively wiped clean. The Court of Cassation has rejected the appeal of the Naples Prosecutor General's Office, ending a legal process that had lasted over a decade and a half. The brothers were also definitively acquitted…
An argument that broke out in a hotel room in Chieti escalated into violence on the night between Wednesday and Thursday. Officers from the Chieti Police Headquarters' Mobile Squad and a patrol car from the Flying Squad responded to the scene after a report of a fight inside the hotel reached the operations room.
Casoria – After nearly a decade, a long and troubled legal case has come to an end for FI, a 48-year-old from Casoria, who was brought to trial on serious charges of domestic abuse. Eight years after the complaint was filed, the panel of judges handed down a full acquittal "for not having committed the crime," restoring his integrity…

I find this sentence a bit surprising, given the serious nature of the events. The woman confessed to attacking the victims, but she's now free, and this is creating confusion among the public. The victims must also be considered.
