A priest who disappeared in the Salerno area has been appealed by the Ecclesiastical Court.

There has been no further news of Father John Fredy Gutierrez Sanchez, a priest belonging to the clergy of the diocese of Vallo della Lucania, in the province of Salerno. The matter has been brought to public attention by a summons issued by the Interdiocesan Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Naples, which invites anyone with knowledge of his current residence to contact the ecclesiastical judicial office.

The priest is scheduled to appear on March 23rd for the notification of certain formal documents, but is currently unavailable. For this reason, the Court has issued an official notice, requesting the cooperation of anyone who can provide information useful in locating him. This is a procedure established under canon law when it is not possible to directly notify the person concerned of a provision.

The news has also raised concerns in the communities where Father Gutierrez Sanchez served as a pastor. Among these is Piaggine, in the heart of Cilento, where the priest served as parish regent for several months. Mayor Renato Pizzolante recalled the news, describing the strong bond he had quickly developed with the town.

The mayor describes a priest capable of quickly integrating into the social fabric, well-liked by both young and old. When he left Piaggine for a new assignment in Roccadaspide, the mayor recounts, many expressed regret at his departure. Even on a personal level, he adds, the relationship had been direct and positive, so much so that he described him as a person of great human and pastoral value, always present for his parishioners.

Now, despite the formal process initiated by the Ecclesiastical Tribunal, the apprehension of those who knew him and are awaiting news remains. The appeal is clear: anyone with useful information on his current residence is invited to contact the Neapolitan Interdiocesan Ecclesiastical Tribunal.
