Salerno – A trailer parked between buildings, transformed into a storage area for stolen goods and a likely staging area for nighttime raids. This is what officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Aid (UPGSP) of the Salerno Police Headquarters discovered, having charged a couple with multiple criminal convictions for conspiracy to receive stolen goods.
The operation began late yesterday morning, around 12:00, when the operations room received a report from several residents of the Mariconda neighborhood, who were suspicious of the presence of two people inside a parked trailer. Upon arriving on scene, officers identified the occupants: a 32-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both already known to law enforcement for numerous criminal convictions.
A search of the vehicle confirmed the suspicions. Inside, officers found boxes containing expensive plumbing fixtures, which turned out to be the loot from a car parked in the same area stolen just the previous night. The merchandise was immediately returned to the rightful owner, who had already filed a complaint.
Trouble also loomed for the vehicle used by the couple: the caravan, lacking an identification plate, had its chassis number scratched off and made illegible, a technique typically used to prevent the identification of stolen vehicles. The vehicle was placed under criminal seizure.
The two individuals, in addition to being issued orders to leave the area, have been reported to the judicial authorities for receiving stolen goods and the vehicle itself. Investigators are currently maintaining the utmost secrecy: thorough investigations are underway to determine whether the couple is behind the escalation of broken windows and car thefts that has been exasperating Mariconda residents in recent weeks.
