Four robberies in just a few hours, all in the heart of Salerno, culminating in a dawn arrest. Police have arrested a minor believed to be responsible for a series of robberies between Piazza della Concordia and the Lungomare Trieste promenade. The alarm was raised around 5:00 a.m., when a man called the emergency number after catching a young man rummaging through his parked car. The driver's side window was smashed, and a wallet was stolen.
Discovered, the boy pulls out a knife and demands more money. The victim stalls, gets into his car under the pretense of recovering the money, and drives away, seeking safety and alerting the police. But the wave of violence continues. Still armed with a knife, the young man carries out three more robberies in quick succession. The victims are first an elderly man, robbed of his cell phone, then a young man waiting for the bus, forced to hand over his wallet, and finally a passerby on the Trieste seafront, threatened while using an ATM.
The screams of one of the victims attracted a patrol car from the Salerno Police Headquarters' Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue. The officers intervened and, after a brief struggle, managed to subdue the young man. An Army patrol, deployed as part of the "Safe Streets" operation, also arrived to assist. The arrested man was identified as an Egyptian minor with a residence permit who had left a reception facility hours earlier.
The search confirmed the dangerous nature of the situation. The boy was found with a pocketknife, a kitchen knife, and part of the stolen goods taken from the first victims. The prosecutor ordered the minor taken to a reception center, pending the validation hearing.

It's incredible how someone so young could do such terrible things, but today's society is very difficult. Law enforcement does a good job, but more attention needs to be paid to young people in difficulty.
