The alleged thief, a 26-year-old homeless Moroccan man, was struck grazing the chest and is currently hospitalized. His condition is not life-threatening. The Carabinieri have charged him with attempted theft.
Investigators are verifying the reconstruction provided by the 55-year-old Salerno native. According to what has emerged, the young man had already managed to enter a cellar, from which he stole groceries, before being discovered by the homeowner.
