Naples – Vandalism broke out again on New Year's Eve at the Asterix Center in San Giovanni a Teduccio. Unknown individuals broke into the building, smashing several doors, and committing several thefts, causing significant damage to the center's facilities and activities. The perpetrators themselves announced the incident.
The incident comes just two weeks after a similar attack. On that occasion, the Center filed a complaint, restored the facilities, and resumed regular educational and social activities for the neighborhood's youth.
"A few days later, the situation repeated itself," the officials explained, "putting the Center back in serious difficulty." This situation was described as "unacceptable," especially since the Asterix Center represents for many young people in San Giovanni a Teduccio "a home, a safe space, and an important educational and social opportunity."
In light of the new raid, officials have requested an urgent meeting with the mayor of Naples and the prefect, with the aim of "starting a serious and immediate discussion on the safety and protection of youth facilities and the surrounding area."

It's truly sad that these things happen in our neighborhood. The Asterix Center is important for young people. We hope the authorities will do something to improve security and prevent future vandalism.
