San Nicola la Strada – Death threats, assaults, and a veritable arsenal of bladed weapons hidden in the home. The incident, which involved Carabinieri officers from the San Nicola la Strada station late yesterday afternoon, January 7th, ended with an arrest. They responded to a report to the 112 emergency number regarding a violent family dispute.
Officers arrested a 43-year-old local man, charged with mistreatment of family members or cohabitants, assault, and possession of weapons or offensive objects. According to the investigation, the man allegedly threatened to kill, assaulted, and beat his live-in partner during yet another episode of domestic violence.
During the personal and home search, the Carabinieri found a switchblade concealed on the suspect's person. Inside a backpack hidden in a closet, in his exclusive possession, they also found an axe, a cleaver, a machete, and a kitchen knife. All the bladed weapons were seized.

This is a truly alarming situation. Domestic violence is a serious problem that requires attention. I hope that the victim can receive the support she needs and that the perpetrator is adequately punished for his actions.
