San Nicola La Strada – A family dispute that threatened to turn tragic was averted overnight by the timely intervention of the Carabinieri of the Caserta Mobile Radio Unit. A 41-year-old man was arrested on serious charges of domestic abuse, threats, and illegal possession of a weapon.
The alarm was raised by a call to 112 reporting a violent altercation at a home in San Nicola La Strada. Upon their arrival, the officers found a dramatic situation: the man had just attacked and threatened to kill his 38-year-old live-in wife.
What made the scene even more disturbing was the brutality of the means used—a baseball bat—and the fact that the entire scene unfolded before the eyes of the couple's youngest daughter.
The immediate investigations conducted by the Carabinieri, supported by several witnesses, have opened a Pandora's box of daily abuse. Last night's incident was not an isolated incident, but the latest in a series of aggressive and harassing behaviors that began in December 2024.
According to investigators' reconstruction, the man's fury was fueled by his refusal to accept his wife's decision to end the marriage. It was a nightmare endured in silence, as the victim, prior to this intervention, had never summoned the courage to file a complaint against her husband.
The attacker was transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison. He remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities pending the validation hearing that will confirm the precautionary measure.

I read the article and it seems like the situation is very serious, but I don't understand why it wasn't stopped sooner. The woman has suffered so much, and the fact that children were involved is alarming; more attention should be paid.
