Scampia, in the '33' district, a "gangster" pusher with a 10-year-old son and a wig for dealing drugs

The background to the raid against the Amato-Pagano clan. The 47-year-old used the "nennillo" to report sales to the bosses. Boss Abbatiello scolded him: "Don't bring the kid with you." The 10-year-old boy was used as a "navigator" for the kobret drug trade. Fired by the clan for the shortages, he tearfully begged for forgiveness.

Gangster-like appearances with an 'American' nickname and a ten-year-old son for home deliveries of kobret and cocaine: drug dealing in the '33' district of the Scampia district also involved a 47-year-old drug dealer of a 'sui generis' who was arrested during this morning's raid.

As part of the investigation by the Naples Flying Squad, which led to the arrest of 28 people (three of whom were under house arrest), a series of incidents involving the 47-year-old, very close to the gang's leader, Salvatore Mele, were documented.

And it's thanks to the boss that he gets a job as a traveling pusher.

His presence, investigators say, was constant at the operational base of the organization linked to the Amato-Paganos, that is, the small circle on Via Annamaria Ortese in Trentatré.

The 47-year-old, after a brief stint in prison, resumed drug dealing for the clan. He was so obsessed with law enforcement and potential investigations that might frame him that he wore a wig to avoid being identified.

This is how the surveillance cameras installed near the operational base captured it.

His handler in the drug dealing hierarchy is Mario Abbatiello who, despite the 47-year-old having ties to the boss, is not above scolding him for his shortcomings.

The circumstance that shocked both investigators and his fellow drug dealers was another: the dealer used his 10-year-old son for some drug deliveries and used him to file a report with his boss, Abbatiello, when the latter accused him of not working diligently and always keeping his phone off. The "nennillo," as his father calls him, explained to Mario Abbatiello the areas they had visited for the deliveries.

The "nennillo" explains to the boss the deliveries made during the day

Some wiretaps reveal that the "undisciplined" pusher not only fails to deliver on time, but also uses his son to help him. Mario Abbatiello harshly rebukes him: “But don't walk around with all this stuff (the narcotic) n'guollo, then you'll take your son with you”.

The boy takes part in a delivery in Piazza Santa Croce and in fact in an intercepted conversation he asks: “Dad, where is Piazza Santa Croce?” And the man responds “Where did you and I go from that bastard? The 5 euro thing.”

The drug dealing incidents and intercepted conversations date back to early July 2022. These were tense days for the 47-year-old, who, amid reprimands and poor "professionalism," resulting in the loss of numerous clients, was "fired" on July 9th.

Mario Abbatiello asks him to immediately hand over the scooter and the phone he was given for the drug dealing. “You have to give me your phone and the keys to the scooter.” says Abbatiello.

The pusher has accumulated numerous charges in just a few days, in addition to the circumstance of bringing the child with him to get help and elude the police, he is accused by the criminal group of not having delivered doses of drugs despite having pocketed 50 euros.

And so, between a gangster nickname, an unlikely wig, a "mohawk" on drug dealing, and his son's deplorable involvement in the drug dealing business, the 47-year-old was summarily fired on July 9, 2022. Apologies and admissions of guilt were of no avail. "I was wrong" he says to Mario Abbatiello, before starting to beg for forgiveness and cry. “You don’t have to cry… you don’t have to give me any explanations, you have to give them to Saviuccio Mele.”

After a few days of isolation, someone apparently intercedes to get the 47-year-old back to work. So, to keep him under better control, the group assigns him the "static" drug dealing business near the thirty-three club, because he too "has to make ends meet" and earn €300-350 a week.

Reading the article, I wondered how anyone could involve their child in such dangerous activities. The situation seems truly complicated and worrying, but there are many unanswered questions that remain.
