Aavellino – The Carabinieri Forestry Corps of the Avellino Ecological Operations Unit have seized a company in Solofra, in the heart of the Avellino province, specializing in the manufacture and maintenance of equipment for the leather and hide industry. The operation, conducted on Friday, January 30, 2026, is part of enhanced controls to stem the chronic pollution of the Sarno River, which has been plagued for years by illegal dumping.

In the approximately 5.000-square-meter outdoor yard, officers discovered an uncontrolled storage of hazardous and non-hazardous waste: drums full of used oil, piles of ferrous metal, and gas cylinders abandoned without safety measures. A washing system and a paint shop, lacking any environmental permits, were also seized.

The company's owner has been reported to the Avellino Public Prosecutor's Office for illegal waste management and environmental violations. Investigations are ongoing to determine possible accomplices and the impact on the Sarno River, which is already under scrutiny by the Prosecutor's Office and ARPA Campania.
