Naples – Some people recycle using colored bags, while others, like a 45-year-old man from Soccavo, prefer the "clean slate" method. The problem is that his concept of waste disposal involves the use of gasoline and a lighter.

The man, already known to law enforcement for similar performances, ended up in handcuffs again after transforming Via Detta Pacifico into a small urban hell.

A “question of aesthetics”

For the 45-year-old, it's not just vandalism, but a real mission: the garbage in the streets bothers him. And since patience has a limit, but fuel availability apparently does not, the man decided to solve the urban decorum problem his own way: setting fire to the local dumpsters.

A scene we've seen before, given that the subject is a repeat match offender, convinced that black smoke is preferable to the sight of a plastic bag.

Betrayed by the “smell” of gasoline

As the flames rose and residents called for help, the Carabinieri of the Rione Traiano station began a manhunt. It didn't take much investigative flair; a good sense of smell was all it took: the suspect was located a few meters from the blaze, his hands and clothes literally soaked in flammable material.

An unmistakable aromatic imprint that made any attempt to deny the evidence useless.

From the match to the screwdriver

After an initial, deceptive cooperation, the man attempted a dramatic coup. Realizing that this time his "environmental battle" would land him straight in jail, he attempted to escape. Once caught, he pulled out a screwdriver and brandished it at the officers. One last, desperate attempt to resist before being finally subdued.

A vice that is difficult to quench

While firefighters struggled to quell the smoldering remains of the dumpsters, the 45-year-old was taken to the station. He will face charges of criminal damage followed by arson and resisting arrest. It remains to be seen whether, once he's served his sentence, he'll be able to find a less flammable hobby to address his hatred of urban waste.

The topic of this article is very interesting. But I don't understand why humans have chosen to burn waste instead of disposing of it properly. This behavior is dangerous and could cause problems for everyone, especially children.
