Casal di Principe – On Friday, January 9th, starting at 9:30 a.m., the Casa Don Diana in Casal di Principe will host the press tour "Land of Fires: Places of Commitment and Regeneration." The event, organized by Legambiente as part of the national campaign "Ecojustice Now! – In the Name of the Polluted People," brings together a network of associations including ACLI, AGESCI, Arci, Azione Cattolica, and Libera.

The field day will cover key areas of the Land of Fires, highlighting the ongoing wounds—such as the persistent pollution that makes it one of the most devastated areas in Europe—and the stories of redemption: reclamation projects underway, environmental regeneration, and productive conversion already underway.

The initiative will feature the Sole Commissioner for the Land of Fires, General Giuseppe Vadalà, who will meet with the press, institutions, research organizations, and civil society for a direct discussion on the status of the remediation efforts, the recovery process, and future prospects.

The "Ecogiustizia Subito!" campaign relaunches the fight for environmental truth and justice, in the wake of the recent ruling by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). The verdict condemned Italy for failing to take adequate measures to protect health and the environment in this area, exposing thousands of citizens to lethal risks from toxic spills and illegal fires.

A crucial meeting to monitor progress and push for concrete answers in an area that has been waiting for justice for decades.

The event seems very interesting and important for the local community. But I wonder if there will be enough resources to address all the pollution problems in these areas, given the extensive damage.
