Ischia – A new phase begins for the reconstruction of the island of Ischia. The Presidency of the Council of Ministers today officially appointed Marcello Feola as the new Special Commissioner for coordinating interventions in the areas affected by the August 2017 earthquake.
The changeover, proposed by the Minister of Civil Protection and Maritime Policies, Nello Musumeci, marks the passing of the baton to Giovanni Legnini. The Minister expressed his sincere thanks to him for his work and profound commitment during his tenure.
Marcello Feola, 61, originally from Salerno, boasts a high-profile technical and academic resume. A lawyer specializing in Administrative Law, he is an associate professor at the University of Salerno, where he holds the chairs of Public Law Institutions and Urban Planning and Environmental Law.
His expertise combines legal experience with solid institutional expertise: he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Observatory for Territorial Development (OST) and has participated in numerous technical commissions of ministerial importance.
The challenge of reconstruction
Feola is now called upon to manage the complex dossier of Ischia's reconstruction, while maintaining the need to combine land safety with urban regeneration and compliance with environmental constraints.
