Naples – The video has gone viral, seemingly a simple prank by a TikTok user, but the victim feels defamed and is reporting it.
A video of a TikTok user dressed as Michael Jackson scaring a young woman on Via Chiaia in Naples has been brought before the investigating judge of the Court of Naples. It seemed like a trivial incident, but the video went viral, garnering over two million views, and the young victim decided to call it quits and report the man. After analyzing the complaint, prosecutors requested the case be dismissed, but the investigating judge has requested a more in-depth investigation to determine whether defamation has been committed due to the serious damage to the victim's reputation. After repeated, unheeded requests for deletion, the TikTok user has been charged.
The man, who often lurks in the street dressed as a plant to scare passersby, took action in Naples, specifically on Via Chiaia, in March 2025: dressed as the "king of pop," the TikToker scared the woman to death and then posted the scene without her consent on TikTok and also on Instagram.
The complaint obviously triggered an investigation, but the prosecutor, having completed his investigations, decided to file a motion to dismiss the case. This request was rejected by the investigating judge on January 16, when he asked the magistrate in charge of the case for an additional 60 days of investigation, believing that the video could constitute defamation.

It's strange how a simple prank can cause so much trouble. I don't understand why the girl reported it. Maybe it was just a funny video, but now it seems like a serious case. People should think before reacting like this.
